Springfield Armory isn’t sleeping on the Echelon. They have now announced the introduction of the Echelon Pro Comp series, bringing a host of performance-oriented enhancements to the company’s signature modular 9mm platform. Available in three configurations, these new Echelons feature integral slide compensation, updated aggressive grip texturing, and upgraded components designed to improve handling and control.
Offered in 4.0C compact, 4.0FC hybrid and 4.5F full-size variants, the Echelon Pro Comp combines an integrally compensated slide assembly with an enhanced grip texture, upgraded components and a distinctive Gray Cerakote finish. The integral compensator is designed to help reduce muzzle rise during firing, allowing shooters to maintain better control and return to their sights more quickly between shots.

Among the most notable additions is Springfield Armory’s new LightForged grip texture. Created using precision lasers to sculpt the surface of the polymer grip module, the process produces a consistent, highly defined texture similar to custom stippling. The Echelon Pro Comp debuts the technology with Springfield’s aggressive Badlands pattern, a cracked-earth-inspired design intended to provide a secure grip under demanding conditions.
Additional enhancements include a machined steel flared magazine well for easier reloads, a stainless steel guide rod and a tritium front sight surrounded by an orange luminescent ring. The removable magwell also allows the pistol to accommodate flush-fit magazines when a lower-profile configuration is preferred.
Despite these upgrades, the Pro Comp retains the features that distinguish the original Echelon platform. Its serialized Central Operating Group allows users to interchange compatible grip modules, while Springfield’s Variable Interface System provides direct mounting compatibility with a wide range of popular pistol optics. Fully ambidextrous controls further contribute to the platform’s versatility.

The three configurations offer different combinations of size and capacity. The 4.0C compact ships with three extended 18-round magazines, while the 4.0FC pairs a 4-inch barrel and compact slide with a full-size grip module and includes three 20-round magazines. The larger 4.5F full-size model also includes three 20-round magazines.
With the introduction of the Echelon Pro Comp, Springfield Armory brings a number of features typically associated with customized pistols into a factory-produced package.
