Meet Sgt. Donahue from the U.S. Army Europe 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany. He’s here to talk to us today about the ICV Stryker, the Infantry Carrier Vehicle for the U.S. Army.
Within minutes of the tour, we quickly came to understand the advantages of having your own Stryker. Traffic is no longer an issue. Angry rioting mobs are no threat, and we’re now impervious to incoming small-arms fire. Toss in your own Stryker pilot and you are off to the movies!
Now that you’re safe inside the Stryker, take a moment to get comfortable in the tactically-luxurious, compact den where you and your soldier buddies will spend a great deal of time in safe transport to your next dangerous job. Perfect for transport from point-A to point-B, you and your infantrymen are always ready to deploy.
Your pimped out Stryker boasts two 26.5-gallon gas tanks and runs strong even when loaded with her 53 gallons of fuel. And, equipped with the Stryker Remote Weapons System (RWS), the vehicle can be outfitted with a .50-caliber M2 machine gun, MK19 40mm grenade launcher or MK240 7.62mm machine gun. Best of all, the gunner never needs to be exposed to the enemy while firing form the cockpit!
Inside in the “driver’s hole,” 360-degree cameras and a periscope view allow the pilot to see where he’s driving and to maintain situational awareness.
The winch is also a very utilized asset of the Stryker, capable of pulling itself or any other comrade from almost any sticky situation.
Inside the Stryker ICV compact clubhouse where infantrymen lounge and prepare for war, they’re supported with CVC helmet comms, enabling the soldiers talk and hear each other as well as communicate with other trucks in the convoy.
Plenty of closet space! The ICV has storage both on the inside and out for all your favorite breaching tools and war-fighting gear. When the ramp comes down, infantrymen grab their gear and go! There’s no looking back now as the ramp closes when the gunner calls it clear!
