What happens when you leave your AR mags loaded for a long time? We answered that in the previous video but many asked, do they still work? This question comes up and many wonder what happens over time, do the lips spread, springs compress, will the mag still function? Dave found some mags that were loaded in 2005 put them to the test and now is taking a closer to look to see how they have held up. Are they ruined?

Dave is the primary on-camera personality and content creator at Guns & Tactics. His experience the in firearms industry, training, law enforcement and media spans more than two decades. He is a proud retired law enforcement officer, having served as a Patrol Sergeant, use of force instructor, and firearms trainer. During that time, he provided department communication to the public and news media and began creating online content in his “spare time.” He joined the Guns & Tactics team full time after retiring from law enforcement following 20 years of decorated service.

The Hammerhead Rifle Tool II (HHRT V II) is a handy little no-nonsense armorer’s tool that has become a welcome addition to my toolbox. I see ARs as tools for use, not for lining a safe. Although I like to build an aesthetically pleasing carbine, I am more concerned with the functionality and reliability of any carbine that I build. It’s going to get used, get dirty, and show some “character” in the long run.
