For a long time, UN12 has resisted selling print issues directly online and subscriptions. That wasn’t an oversight or a technical limitation—it was a deliberate choice. We’ve always believed strongly in supporting brick-and-mortar retailers, from national chains like Barnes & Noble to smaller specialty shops. Seeing UN12 on a shelf, flipping through it in person, and discovering it organically has been part of the experience we value.

That said, many of you have told us—repeatedly—that finding UN12 in the wild isn’t always easy. While we are carried by national retailers, distribution doesn’t reach every store in every city. Some readers have driven across town, checked multiple locations, or come up empty-handed altogether. Others have emailed us asking a simple question: “Why can’t I just order one?”
The short answer has always been shipping costs.
UN12 is physically large. It’s oversized by design. Add to that heavier-than-typical paper stock, and you end up with a magazine that feels substantial in hand—and unfortunately, substantial on a shipping scale. Mailing a single issue through U.S. Mail isn’t cheap. In fact, it’s expensive enough that we’ve been hesitant to surprise readers with what can only be described as a whiplash-inducing shipping cost.
All in, mailing one issue to your door costs about $24. That includes shipping. We didn’t love the idea of asking readers to pay that much for a single magazine, even if some of you told us—very clearly—that you didn’t care and wanted it anyway.
And honestly, we get it. If you’re the type of reader who spends serious money on optics, suppressors, training, kit, and gear setups that cost more than your first car, a premium print magazine probably isn’t the most extravagant line item in your budget. Perspective helps.
Due to overwhelming demand, we’ve decided to open up online sales for the current issue that is on the newsstands. To help soften the blow, we’re taking some of the cost off the cover price. With a $15.95 cover price, the cost shipped to your door comes out to $20 per issue (while supplies last and not including tax).
We wanted to be transparent about why it costs what it does. No surprises, no mystery fees—just the reality of printing and mailing a large, heavy magazine in todays world.
If you decide to order, know that you’re getting the same oversized, heavy-stock issue you’d find on a store shelf—just without the scavenger hunt.
