Products from Aimpoint® and Leupold® chosen for ECOS-O optics program
CHANTILLY, VA – Aimpoint, the originator and world leader in electronic red dot sighting technology, has been awarded an $8.7 million, five-year IDIQ contract by the U.S. Navy Surface Warfare Center – Crane Division for supply of sights and mounts for the Enhanced Combat Optical Sight – Optimized (ECOS-O) program . The ECOS-O integrated system combines the battle proven Aimpoint Micro T-1 sight with the Leupold® Mark 6® 3-18x44mm riflescope. This combination of optics allows operators to utilize the non-magnified red dot sight both as a primary optic, as well as a fast way to acquire targets for long range identification and engagement using the magnified Leupold scope.
Under the terms of this contract, Aimpoint will supply Micro T-1 reflex sights and 34mm mounting adapters to the Navy Surface Warfare Center in Crane, IN, where they will mounted on Leupold Mark 6 scopes for delivery to units of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps.
“The combination of an Aimpoint Micro T-1 with a Leupold Mark 6 scope results in a very effective combat optical package that really gives operator sa distinct edge in achieving a variety of missions” said Matt Swenson, Vice President of Government Sales at Aimpoint. “This is a great example of a system that has capabilities greater than the sum of its individual parts. NSWC-Crane did an out standing job in designing this program to fill the needs of the warfighters, and it was a great experience working along with Leupold & Stevens to execute on the project requirements.”
Since 1997, Aimpoint has delivered over 1,000,000 of its soldier-tested, combat-proven sights to the U.S. Military. For more information on Aimpoint or t he company’s products, visit the company’s webpage at www.aimpoint.com.
