Spartan Armor Systems®’ Hercules ceramic body armor rises to higher standards than other plates on the market while offering a competitive price point.

Tucson, Ariz. (January 2023) – Spartan Armor Systems®, manufacturers of American-designed and made body armor, tactical gear, and targets, now offers a complete ceramic body armor line with its Hercules Ceramic Body Armor. Manufactured exclusively in its state-of-the-art facility in Tucson, Arizona, Spartan Armor Systems’ brought production in-house to meet its superior quality standards and low lead times. The Hercules product line includes the Hercules Level IV Body Armor, the recently announced Hercules Lite Level III+/RF2 body armor, and the Hercules Xtreme Multi-Hit Ceramic Level IV (formerly the Ares Level IV plate).
The Hercules Lite RF2 Level III+/RF2 rated armor plate offers balanced protection and performance in a standalone plate. It is engineered to stop M80 BALL as well as advanced non-armor piercing threats, namely M855. The Hercules Lite provides full edge-to-edge coverage in a SAPI medium 9.5×12.5 in. design, weighing in at just 4 lbs. per plate with a 1 in. thickness.
The Hercules Level IV body armor plate is rated to stop armor-piercing rifle rounds up to .30-06 M2 AP. Weighing in at just 6.9 lbs. per plate, the Hercules Level IV is noticeably lighter than most level IV ceramic body armor plates available. With full edge-to-edge 10×12 in. coverage and Advanced Compound Curve design, the Hercules Level IV body armor is ideal for operators in need of maximum protection and comfort. Designed using Spartan Armor’s Advanced Compound Curve (ACC) feature, Hercules is a true multi-curve design providing the wearer with the most comfortable fit out of any ceramic body armor plate on the market today. This advanced ergonomic design is especially important during extended duty engagements, typical of law enforcement, military, and security operations.
The Hercules Xtreme Level IV ceramic body armor plate is Spartan Armor System’s toughest and lightest level IV plate yet. With a boron carbide strike face and UHMWPE backer, the Hercules Xtreme Level IV is a military-grade plate that has been laboratory tested and proven to defeat 3-4 impacts of .30-06 M2AP armor-piercing rounds. Boron carbide is one of the hardest materials known to man; however, it is lighter than other softer ceramics such as aluminum oxide, which is used in most civilian-grade body armor.
Spartan Armor Systems offers the lowest lead time at only two to five business days to ship an order. Free shipping on orders of $199 or more.

On the morning of Saturday, December 13th, my friend John Rawlings and I headed south toward the Washington State Capitol to participate in an event to protest a new gun control law. We arrived early and were able to watch as thousands of people slowly emerged from the fog to gather together on the lawn. The diversity in the crowd was inspiring – old and young, men and women, gay and straight, religious and agnostic, all economic levels, all races, colors and creeds. From people in wheelchairs to children playing in the piles of fallen leaves it truly was a cross-section of people from all walks of life who had come together for a common cause.
