We get a first look at the Limited Edition Border Patrol Tracker Rifle from Area 53 Research & Development.
Area 53, in collaboration with the United State Border Patrol, developed an AR-15 type rifle that was spec’d and tested exclusively by several active Border Patrol Agents. The rifle was essentially designed by agents and is only available to agents; so don’t get your hopes up.
That doesn’t mean we won’t tease you with some awesome imagery and the specs so you can build your own. Even though these were a limited run, Area 53 will sell you their upper and lower without the BP logo through their web store in case you wanted to build your own.
The purpose in creating the BP Tracker Rifle was to honor the agents who have given their lives to protect our borders and continue to serve every day. Anyone buying must have an active cbp.gov or doj.gov email address.
The rifle is built on the Area 53 billet receivers and uses a FN cold hammer forged 16-inch barrel. The BCG is a Barnes Precision Machining Nickel Boron Coated BCG and the hand guard is a 13.5-inch Diamondhead Free floating VRS-T. The agent can choose to have a 10.25-inch installed if they want a slightly shorter and lighter hand guard. Magpul MOE Stock and Grip.
They are available in all black anodized (called the Night Tracker) or they can choose the OD Green/FDE version which has been the most popular.
All receivers are Type III hard coat anodized with the border patrol image laser engraved after anodizing.
We didn’t want to shoot the test rifle sent to us because it was on loan, but I think you will agree it looks pretty bad-ass.
Check out Area 53 on Facebook or via their website for more details and look for my upcoming review on their receivers.
