P320 California: Good To Go On The Roster
Sig Sauer has given the welcome news that the so-called “P320 California”, i.e. a California-compliant SIG P320 pistol, is now available in the 31st state.
The State of California is well-known for its anti-gun laws, ceaseless anti-gun legislation attempts, and overall firearm restrictions; this is despite the wishes of hundreds of thousands of Californians who’d prefer it otherwise. The most obvious example of this is the so-called California Handgun Roster. Simply put, the Roster is a relatively short list of handguns allowed to be transferred into the state via FFL.

Though the California Handgun Roster is ludicrous, it’s law – happily, that law now allows Californians to purchase a SIG Sauer P320. As the company explains,
“SIG SAUER, Inc. is pleased to announce the first-ever release of a California-compliant P320 – hailed for its unmatched modularity, unprecedented accuracy, and uncompromising reliability, the P320 is one of the most sought-after firearms on the market today. The P320-M18 (P320-M18 CA) was recently added to the California roster and is now available at California retailers.”
The P320-M18 California Compliant handgun is, like its cousins in freer states, a striker-fired modular pistol built on the P320 Fire Control Unit (FCU). The weapon is chambered in 9mm, features a coyote carry length grip module, and a coyote-tan PVD coated and optics-ready stainless-steel slide with the company’s proprietary SIGLITE front night sights and removable night sight rear plate. Other features include coyote-tan colored controls and an ambidextrous manual safety.
The P320-M18 FCU can be exchanged between grip modules, slides, and other accessories. It ships with three (3) 10-round magazines.
How this modularity and potential for accessorization will be affected by the state’s nonsensical “firearms manufacturer” laws (which define the term manufacturer in inconsistent and bewildering ways) remains to be seen.
