Sphinx is proud to announce that it will begin distribution of the Sphinx SDP Compact 9mm starting 1st quarter of 2013 in the United States. The highly anticipated pistol is the evolution of the popular Sphinx pistols and designed specifically for law enforcement and military personnel. The new Sphinx SDP Compact brings the high performance features of the SDP series into a smaller, more concealable package. The slide of every SDP Compact is CNC machined from high-grade steel and hand-fitted to each frame. Its full length, machined guide rails and recoil buffer ensure consistent accuracy for the most demanding users.
The unique frame design consists of two parts: an upper frame that is made from aeronautic grade aluminum with Teflon inserts and a lower frame from a specially formulated polymer that is resistant to extreme temperatures and corrosion. Its multi-slot Picatinny rail accommodates a variety of tactical lights and lasers. The SDP Compact features 3 interchangeable back straps to accommodate various hand sizes and an ambidextrous decocking lever.
The Sphinx SDP Compact will be configured with standard front and rear iron sights.
The list price will be $1295.00
Sphinx will also distribute the SDP Compact 9mm Kryptonight Edition. Featuring a special finish, the pistol will include the patented Defiance H.A.L.O. (H3 Adaptive Luminescent Optic) green sights. The new Defiance sights are designed and optimized for day and nighttime operations, with combined patented fiber optic and tritium technology to enhance target acquisition. A 17-round magazine will also be included. Pricing and availability to be announced soon.

Big screen actor and activist Vince Vaughn, most recently starring in the hit series ‘True Detective’ on HBO, recently sat down with British GQ Magazine for a an interview. Almost all of us in the tactical field drool over the latest gear and accessories for everything from weapons to clothing, and many of us are self-proclaimed pack-junkies quick to snatch up the latest in rucksack and tactical bag options (although whether or not we actually have anything to put in that bag yet can sometimes be irrelevant.) While we typically pay careful consideration to the pockets, load capacity, weatherproofing and any number of features that a pack may boast, we inevitably end up slapping on 100 MPH tape, bungees, paracord, zip-ties and even rubber bands to get our load-out right where we want it. One challenge that is often difficult to overcome, however, is a lack of anchor points. D-rings and webbing occasionally fit the need of securing gear that can’t be thrown in a bag or need to be readily accessible, but there just never seems to be enough of them to go around.
