The Folding Defensive Platform from Zev Technologies—FDP for short—is a new take on the concept of the “truck gun” or the personal defense weapon. Two versions are available: pistol (FDP-P) and carbine (FDP-C).
Presented in its most compact form, it might resemble something like a small attache case, but expands rapidly at a moment’s notice into a fully functional firearm.

Developed in partnership with Magpul Industries, which provided the polymer chassis tech, the Zev FDP includes groundbreaking technology on both a short-barreled rifle and a pistol.
It might just be the ultimate solution for those who seek a compact, powerful, and highly concealable defensive weapon system.
The folding stock or brace, which flips out upon deployment to transform the FDP into its shooting configuration, stows naturally on top of the rest of the body to make it amazingly compact, transportable, and concealable.

Constructed as it is from primarily corrosion-resistant materials, it’s made to withstand harsh environments. It is equipped with a 1913 Picatinny rail so it readily hosts the integration of optics, lights or other accessories.
A section of rail is also built into the carry handle, and said handle is equipped with adjustable iron sights built in.
The FDP is chambered for 9mm and includes an ambidextrous charging handle and reversible magazine release, so it caters to both right- and left-handed shooters.
The kit includes the ZEV x Magpul FDP unit itself, two Magpul PMAG 21 GL9 magazines, and a section of custom laser-cut foam designed to fit into a Pelican 1450 case. A soft case is also available from Overpass Bags, and an SBR conversion kit will be available soon for those who wish to convert their FDP into a short-barreled rifle.
