If you need custom foam, you need MyCaseBuilder. Design your own custom foam case with MyCaseBuilder’s easy-to-use web application.
Every once in a while you find a great product that makes your life just a little simpler. For me, it was while attending the NRA show in Houston Texas that I stumbled onto MyCaseBuilder. The name is synonymous with what they do, build custom case enclosures to manage all of your toys, or in my “case” guns, pun intended.
As I walked the aisles of the show, I came upon a large gathering of show-goers crowding around one booth, so much that I could not see the booth at all. Upon closer inspection I found neatly organized cases with precisely cut foam shapes that resembled a gun. I had found the answer to organizing my guns when I travel to the range and competitions.

“We are more than just a custom foam insert company, our online case builder software program allows our customers to quickly build a case design of their own, save and upload it for an order in a matter of minutes,” Bruce Klein, Director of Product Development and Design, said.
MyCaseBuilder has 10 years of case building experience and over 25 years of experience with foam packaging.
“Currently we are building up our shape library with shapes already loaded in, and our newest tool that is presently in development is our Photo-to-Foam tool which allows our customers to take a picture of their gear in order to translate it into a shape that can be cut for their custom foam insert,” Steve Holand, Chief Executive at MyCaseBuilder, said.

At the time of this writing, MyCaseBuilder has 85 shapes in their shape library with a selection of firearms and accessories for Beretta, Colt, FNH, Glock, Heckler & Koch, Kriss, LMT, McMillan, Ruger, Sig Sauer, Smith & Wesson and Thompson. They also have a generic 1911, AK-47 and AR 15/M4.
“We are currently in the process of adding more shapes regularly as they are submitted and approved for use, these designs are coming from our customers and from CAD drawings supplied by manufacturers,” Holand said.

This author had the opportunity to try out the online custom foam design software and within minutes I designed a custom foam set for my Smith and Wesson M&Ps. It was seamless and actually I found it quite fun, so much that I created a few more just for kicks.
“It is very easy to draw any shape. At MyCaseBuilder.com, we have tools to make squares, rectangles, circles, ovals and irregular shapes drawn point to point. If you are in need of assistance, you can always email or call our customer service team,” Holand said.
Once my layout was approved, my custom foam case order arrived in only 5 business days and shipping was only $8.99 no matter how much I ordered.
“Approval is key because it allows us to check for design errors and fine tune the case so that it is optimal for strength and appearance,” Said Klein.

If you don’t already have your own case, MyCaseBuilder has a very large assortment of cases you can buy.
“We sell a wide range of cases of all shapes, sizes and price points to meet our customers’ needs and budgets. We sell blow molded, injection molded, waterproof, wheeled, soft-sided and aluminum cases from HPRC, Seahorse, Nanuk, Flambeau, Pelican and Storm,” Holand said.
Shortly after opening the box, I had my new custom foam installed and ready to go. I was thoroughly impressed with how well it perfectly slid into my Pelican case. Now for real test, how do my guns fit?
A perfect fit! My Smith and Wesson M&P and the mags slid in for a firm but easy to remove fit. Even though my case was designed for the M&P, it still accommodated similar guns without ruining the shape.
Matt Gardiner, customer of MyCaseBuilder had an equally pleasant experience.
“I am very happy with the overall experience and the final result. I am typically someone who is hard to please, and I usually find some small imperfection or something I am dissatisfied with, but not in this case. I have been telling and showing others this cool tool and expect to do additional business with them in the future,” Gardiner said.
