The Duty 9 Double Stack is the newest 1911 offering from Military Armament Corp (MAC). Designed in Knoxville, Tennesse, this newest Duty 9 is built to exacting standards by Tisas and features a new slide cut design with aggressive window-slot serrations up front.
MAC claims it is “built for any mission” and it incorporates a factory RMR-pattern optic cut at the slide’s rear and a single-slot universal light rail on the frame’s underside.
Duty 9 Double Stack features a polymer grip module with a subtle yet firm grip texture. True to its “Duty 9” designation, this semiauto, hammer-fired pistol is chambered in 9mm and utilizes a 5-inch bull barrel that’s quench-polish-quench (QPQ) Tenifer finished, with an 11-degree target crown to keep recoil at a minimum and maximize accuracy.
Other Duty 9 Double Stack features include a 4140 hammer-forged steel QPQ Tenifer coated slide, 4140 hammer-forged steel, black-Cerakoted frame, and a skeletonized hammer. A manual thumb safety and grip safety are both integrated. The skeletonized trigger features overtravel adjustment and a 4.75-pound (+/- 0.25 lb) pull weight.
There’s a removable competition aluminum magwell, also Cerakoted black, and the slide features an installed fiber-optic front sight and serrated black rear sight. MAC 9 DSD Series pistols come standard with two magazines (17-round Checkmate mags in this case), a cleaning kit, cable lock, an extra mainspring retainer pin, and premium lockable hard case.
According to the company, MAC traces its roots to the “resurgence of American resolve,” and their products pay homage to the small groups of men carrying out counter-terrorism, direct-action, and counter-narcotics missions, of which the Duty 9 Double Stack is only the latest example.
