When it comes to shotguns, there seems to be two camps. Those who love ’em and those who don’t exactly love ’em. Regardless of which camp you find yourself in, we’re willing to bet that most firearm owners have at least one scattergun in their collections, if not a few.

The owner of this Benelli M2 Tactical Shotgun is a diehard pistol and rifle guy who enjoys casual steel plate competition shooting. Although well-versed in handguns and rifles, shotguns had previously never been his thing—that is, until recently. The shotgun itch bit him hard lately and he’s gone deep into modifying his M2. He’s had several pump shotguns in the past but this M2 is his first semi-auto model and he’s enjoying it a lot.

The Benelli M2 is a popular and reliable semi-automatic shotgun that is designed for various uses including tactical and competition purposes as well as for home defense. Benelli, an Italian firearms manufacturer, is known for producing high-quality shotguns, and the M2 Tactical is no exception. As great as the platform may be right out of the box, we agree with the owner of this example that most everything can be upgraded and made to fit personal needs and tastes with the help of aftermarket accessories.
This M2 features a host of upgrades, most notably from Strike Industries, Mesa Tactical, and Roth Performance. Accessory-wise, we also spot a SureFire WeaponLight as well as a Holosun green dot optic. There’s plenty to unpack here, so let’s take a look at some of the highlights of this decked-out shotgun.

Weaponlight
SureFire Turbo ScoutLight Pro
MSRP: $399
The M640DFT-PRO Turbo Scout Light Pro combines the best attributes of the standard M640 Scout Light Pro with high-candela performance and dual-fuel capability. It delivers the farthest-reaching beam and longest runtime of any SureFire long-gun WeaponLight. The M640DFT-PRO projects a blinding peak beam intensity of 100,000 candela when powered by its included SF18650B rechargeable lithium-ion battery, or 90,000 candela when powered by two 123 lithium batteries.

Optic
Holosun HE507COMP-GR
MSRP: $470
The 507Comp-GR features a large objective lens that is perfect for handgun and shotgun applications. The optic includes Holosun’s new Competition Reticle System (CRS) with Holosun’s 540nm Green Super LED and has a battery runtime of up to 50,000 hours with a 1632 cell. The CRS is an enhanced multi-reticle system with four components including a precision 2 MOA dot, an 8 MOA circle, 20 MOA circle, and 32 MOA circle, with multiple combination settings to suit individual shooter preference.

Shell Caddy
Roth Performance Xtra Shell Caddy
MSRP: $15
A Roth Performance Xtra Shell Caddy keeps a single shell in reach for when it’s needed.

Stock
Mesa Tactical Urbino Pistol Grip Stock
MSRP: From $120
Developed to meet the needs of law enforcement and military operators, Mesa Tactical’s rugged Urbino tactical stock features a 12.5-inch length of pull, soft urethane rubber grip, optional Limbsaver buttpad, optional adjustable cheek riser, and a variety of flexible sling mounting options. Its shorter length of pull allows the user to wear body armor or bulky clothing without extending their reach.

Handguard
Strike Industries VOA Handguard
MSRP: $140
Pairing premium material construction with SI’s modern styling, the VOA Handguard is the first in a full line of aluminum forends that will be made for Benelli, Mossberg, and Remington shotguns. Forged by an intensive extrusion mold process and precision CNC milling, the 6061-T6 aluminum VOA Series handguard for the Benelli M2 features nine M-LOK rail system slots that are angled to prevent finger or hand snags while reloading. Weighing under 9 ounces, this one-piece handguard is both strong and lightweight.

Sling
Strike Gear S3 Sling Lite
MSRP: $19 (Black, Coyote Brown, Wolf Gray) $29 (MultiCam®)
This minimalistic 1-inch-wide sling ensures a simple yet robust construction to your firearm. Twin elastic keepers offer convenient webbing storage on the go, and its cross-stitched handle enables seamless sling length changes to allow for quick transitions between shooting positions. With a padded shoulder section and ladder lock buckle, there’s no end to this sling’s comfort and adjustments.

Barrel Clamp
Strike Industries
MSRP: $39
The Strike Shotgun Barrel Clamp for 12-Guage helps to add strength and rigidity to the M2’s feed tube and couples it with the ability to add accessories and a sling mounting point. One side of the barrel clamp features a Picatinny rail and the other side includes a 360° free swivel quick detach (QD) socket. It’s the user’s choice as to which goes on what side.

Follower
Strike Industries Follower for 12-Gauge Shotgun
MSRP: $14
SI’s smooth-sliding 6061-T6 aluminum follower is compatible with many 12-gauge shotgun models including those made by Benelli, Mossberg, Remington, and Stoeger. (Check the website for exact applications.) It features spiral fluting for enhanced magazine tube self-cleaning and is offered in high-visibility colors for quick and easy visual confirmation of an empty magazine tube.
