CZ designed the second-generation Bren from the ground up to reduce weight and improve ergonomics. At last, shooters in the USA can choose from pistol and carbine models and have options to be able to personalize each. The Bren 2 Ms is engineered to excel in today’s fast-paced shooting sports.
The CZ Bren 2’s “Ms” designation denotes a modular fore-end that can be matched to barrel length. CZ’s factory magazines (30 rounds is standard) ensure last-round hold-open functionality for 7.62 cartridges; for 5.56 platforms, the Bren is compatible with aftermarket AR-style magazines.
The CZ Bren 2 Ms boasts lighter construction thanks to an aluminum receiver and carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer lower. The reciprocating charging handle has been removed in favor of one that’s stowed in the forward position until needed. You can also change it from side to side, and it doubles as a forward assist. An AR-style bolt catch/release system is present on either side, the lever itself neatly tucked in front of the trigger guard. Magazine release and safety are also ambidextrous and positioned for ergonomic accessibility.
The new CZ Bren 2 Ms pistol is chambered for 5.56×45 and 7.62×39, and it’s available in several barrel lengths, from 8.3 for 5.56 or 9.1 for 7.62 to 14.2 inches. As a pistol, the Bren 2 Ms features a flush rear plate that can attach an AR-style buffer tube to allow you to install an arm brace, cheek rest, or other stabilizing device. A carbine buffer tube and stock can also be installed, or the entire rear plate can be replaced entirely with a factory folding or adjustable stock for those who wish to convert the firearm to an SBR.
The CZ Bren 2 Ms carbine is chambered solely for 5.56 and comes equipped with iron sights, a longer 16.5-inch barrel, and a shoulder stock with raised comb, optimizing it for accurate shooting at longer distances. The carbine is based on the select-fire system and operates via short-stroke gas pistol with a return spring located within the action. Without a traditional buffer tube, it will accommodate an adjustable folding stock. Overall length measures 38.5 inches that folds down to just over 28 inches for easy transport and storage.
