Customization used to mean emptying out your wallet and preparing for a long wait. In the past, getting a pistol tailored to your exact preferences often required handing it over to a gunsmith, then waiting weeks—or more—for the work to be done. But today, the landscape has shifted.

Thanks to a modular platform like the SIG Sauer P320 and a growing aftermarket of high-quality components, you can build a fully upgraded pistol on your own schedule—and often for less money than a full custom job.

This particular P320 build proves just that. Starting with a bone-stock full-size SIG P320, the owner took advantage of SIG’s modularity and the growing range of premium parts to assemble a striking, fully featured sidearm in just over a week. It’s a prime example of what today’s pistol customization scene looks like—fast, functional, and highly personal.

At the heart of this build is SIG’s Fire Control Unit (FCU), a serialized chassis that allows users to swap out grip modules, slides, and barrels without the need for an FFL transfer.

It’s the backbone that makes the P320 one of the most modular pistols on the market. From there, the builder upgraded nearly every major component, blending SIG factory parts with carefully selected third-party accessories.

The grip module started life as a SIG Sauer XFive Full Size. This version comes with thoughtful ergonomic tweaks like a deeper trigger guard undercut, a higher backstrap, and an extended beavertail—all designed to promote a higher, more secure grip and reduce felt recoil. The removable internal weight improves balance, while the included flared magwell speeds up reloads.

To give the pistol a one-of-a-kind aesthetic, the grip was shipped off to Koted Arms for a custom Cerakote job. The finish pays homage to UN12 Issue 013’s cover gun and draws direct inspiration from Japanese motorsport powerhouse, HKS, and that company’s signature racing livery.

It’s bold, colorful, and a magnet for attention—especially under range lights. Whether or not you’re a fan of JDM car culture, there’s no denying it gives this pistol serious personality.

The factory slide was swapped out for a SIG Pro-Cut Slide with a 4.7-inch barrel. Finished in black Nitron, the slide includes stylized cuts for reduced weight and improved aesthetics. It’s also cut for an optic, allowing easy mounting of red dot sights. As a factory SIG upgrade, it comes with the added bonus of maintaining the gun’s warranty—something third-party slides can’t always guarantee.

The slide is topped with SIG’s suppressor-height SIGLite Night Sights, which co-witness with the optic and remain visible in low-light scenarios. These tall iron sights are built for durability and visibility, whether used as primaries or backups to a red dot.

To take full advantage of the Pro-Cut slide’s optic-ready design, the owner added an EOTech EFLX Mini Reflex Sight. The EFLX is a rugged open-emitter red dot that delivers a wide window and bright reticle for fast sight acquisition. It’s a solid pick for both casual plinking and serious target work, making it well-suited to the hybrid range role this pistol fills.

For nighttime use, the pistol is equipped with a SureFire X400VH MasterFire WeaponLight. The X400VH combines a powerful white light with an IR laser, making it ideal for low-light and no-light conditions, especially when paired with night vision gear. The MasterFire-compatible housing allows for secure holstering and automatic light activation when used with the SureFire MasterFire holster system.

The factory trigger was replaced with a SIG Sauer Flat Skeletonized Enhanced Stainless Steel Trigger. This factory upgrade brings a 30% reduction in pull weight compared to the stock part. Its flat profile encourages a lower finger position, improving leverage and contributing to a cleaner, more consistent break—something that’s especially useful when shooting for precision.

The builder also replaced the magazine release with a Strike Industries Modular Magazine Release. This part allows for interchangeable extensions, giving users the ability to fine-tune the reach and feel of their mag release. Topping things off is a Grayguns P320 Extended Magwell Magazine Base Pad, which allows for easy reloading with the frame’s flared magwell.

This custom P320 was built for the range but wouldn’t be out of place in a duty or defensive role. It’s fast, reliable, and purpose-built for real use, whether in daylight or under NODs. The owner of this particular pistol reports zero issues, stating it has performed flawlessly since the build’s completion.
By blending SIG factory upgrades with high-performance aftermarket parts, the owner pulled off a personalized build that looks and feels like a full custom—but it came together in days, not months. The result is a pistol that stands out at the range, shoots flat, and showcases just how far modern pistol customization has come.
