So, what would you do if you had millions of dollars to spend on a boat? Need some inspiration? Get started by taking a look at the 394-foot mega yacht named “A,” for the first initials of its owners, 42-year old- Russian billionaire banker Andrey Melnichenko and his Serbian-born wife, model Aleksandra Melnichenko.
This amazing $300M vessel was built in 2008 by Blohm and Voss and designed by Philippe Starck and Martin Francis. The amazing “A” is visually stunning and packed with security features we can get excited about.
For starters, the yacht can accommodate 14 guests and can host a crew of 42. It was built in Kiel, Germany and is registered in Bermuda. To give you a better idea, the length of this sea jewel is the equivalent of a football field plus a basketball court laid end-to-end.
“A” is guarded by 44 security cameras and more than a dozen exterior cameras fitted with motion-detection systems and a night-vision infrared system. You’ll be watching sunsets from behind a series of 44-milimeter bomb-proof glass windows. “A” can also outrun most pursuing threats with a rev of her twin high-speed diesel engines that deliver 24,000 horsepower to push her along at 24 knots. Rumor has it that “A” is also equipped with a pod-like escape system.
“A” has more than 24,000 square-feet of interior space with a 2,500 square-foot master suite, said to have a secret room hidden behind mirrored panels. Security on the Master Bedroom will require your fingerprint to open the door.
The Wall Street Journal has described “A” as “Baccarat meets bomb-proof glass on the high seas.”
There are three swimming pools, one of which converts to a dance floor. Below deck, “A” has three designer launch boats, each its own $1M mini-yacht, and a huge water-garage filled with other fun sea toys. The water-garage can also be transformed into a disco floor. Of course, there’s also a helicopter pad.
Without a doubt, Mr. and Mrs. Melnichenko have exquisite yet covert taste for the finer things in life. When not cruising the world’s oceans on the “A,” Andrey and Aleksandra might be found flying the friendly skies in their private Boeing 737 jet, also named “A.”

In this Tactical Moment episode John discusses “stoppages.” A stoppage is a momentary cessation of the firearm. When you pull the trigger and hear a click instead of a bang, then you know something is wrong. Applying “immediate action” could be the fastest way to fix the problem and get back in the gunfight. Watch this video to learn how to manage a firearms stoppage by applying the immediate action technique.
