There are three models of Vortex Defender series red dots available to help any pistol shooter adapt to any scenario. For fans of the FDE or “desert dirt” look, all three are now available with a tan housing.
The Vortex Defender lineup includes Defender-CCW, Defender-ST, and Defender-XL. All three offer the following features:
The three Defender models are each tailored to a specific shooting use-case.

The Defender-CCW is, naturally, design specifically for outfitting your carry piece with a compact red dot and is the ideal choice for EDC. It features a 3 MOA bright red dot and accommodates the popular Shield RMS footprint.
The Defender-ST is Vortex’s all-purpose offering, for example running drills at the range and then seamlessly transitioning to duty or defensive use. It features a 3 MOA bright red dot and accommodates the DeltaPoint Pro footprint.
The Defender-XL is the full-size offering, built for competition and target shooting with a 5 MOA bright red dot. It also accommodates the DeltaPoint Pro footprint.
The Vortex Defender line features intuitive controls to get you up and running quickly and Fast-Rack textured checkering on the optic’s face.
Each ships with a Picatinny mount, custom tool, a rubber cover, most common mounting hardware sets specific to the optic in question, a lens-cleaning cloth, and a battery to power the unit—CR2032 for the XL and XT, CR1632 for the CCW. The CCW includes a 1° shim plate, and the XL and ST include a Glock MOS plate.
