SIG Sauer has expanded its SIG516 G3 lineup with the introduction of two compact 11.5-inch models, available in pistol and SBR configurations. The new variants bring the third-generation platform’s piston-driven operating system and updated features to a shorter, more maneuverable package.
Building on more than a decade of experience with the SIG516 series, the third-generation platform incorporates feedback from users operating in demanding environments around the world. The updated design emphasizes durability, reliability and versatility while retaining the core characteristics of its predecessors.

At the heart of the SIG516 G3 is a short-stroke piston operating system paired with a three-position adjustable gas system. This arrangement is designed to provide reliable operation across varying ammunition types and operating conditions.
The new 11.5-inch models retain many of the features found on their full-size counterparts, including steel-reinforced components in high-wear areas and fully ambidextrous controls. Both configurations also feature a dual charging-handle arrangement consisting of a conventional ambidextrous rear charging handle and a folding, non-reciprocating side charging handle. The two operate independently, allowing the action to be manipulated from either location without moving the other handle. Neither reciprocates during firing.
Both models are equipped with an 11.5-inch cold hammer-forged barrel, a free-floating M-LOK handguard and SIG Sauer’s Matchlite Duo curved trigger. A SIG Flash Hider Compensator rounds out the package.
Obviously, the primary distinction between the two is their rear furniture (and resulting classification). The pistol features a Magpul BSL stabilizing brace, while the SBR is equipped with a six-position Magpul DT shoulder stock.
With the addition of these 11.5-inch models, SIG Sauer offers the latest iteration of its piston-driven SIG516 platform in two compact configurations, retaining the operating system and features of the larger models while providing a shorter overall footprint.
