A few posts ago I’d rediscovered an Aero Precision M4E1 Low Profile stripped lower hiding in a locked drawer. Find that post here.
As is typical for me, new builds sort of come together over the course of weeks or months, if not years. That being said, I figured it was about time for a lower parts kit for the M4E1.
The kit pictured here is from CMMG, part of their Zeroed line of enhanced parts for the AR platform. I’d added in a Zeroed 60-degree safety selector to a different firearm and liked the way the chunky, chevron-style texturing looked and felt, and it wasn’t crazy expensive in the grand scheme of things.
This Zeroed kit includes all the basic parts and controls required to fill out a lower receiver and includes ambidextrous functionality for the safety selector and magazine release. It also includes the pivot and takedown pins, hammer and trigger pins, bolt release lever, buffer retainer plunger, and all relevant springs and detents.
The LPK kit is available with a Zeroed pistol grip as well as a grip and fire control group, but we’ve skipped those parts for now. Obviously you’ll need a grip to install the safety and will need to have the buffer tube and end plate sorted before installing the takedown pin at the rear. For now, those pieces have been laid aside.
Installation for each part is standard as if you were using Mil components. The Zeroed parts are grouped into color-coded bags out of the package and there’s a QR code you can scan for an installation video if you’re a first-time installer or simply need a refresher.
Admittedly, ninety bucks is a lot for an LPK when there are standard components available for much less, but if you want a little bit of custom flair on your lower and some added functionality with the ambidextrous capability, the Zeroed Enhanced LPK is good way to group everything together in one neat little package. You will also pay less than sourcing other custom components part by part, where you could conceivably pay $50 or more for certain things like ambi safety setups or bolt release levers.
Most of the components included in the kit are also available individually, and range of other parts is available from CMMG under the Zeroed line to trick out your build, including lower parts kits for AR-10, muzzle devices like comps, flash hiders, and the company’s new range of Zeroed suppressors for various calibers, charging handles, drop-in triggers, and others.
