Back in August, here on www.gunsandtactics.com, I introduced you to the company Combat Shooters. "Combat Shooters – Through Reason or by Force" gave you a look behind the curtain at the people who make it possible. Mike and Nelia have started to establish themselves in the industry by making all the right choices and refusing to fear change. With a well earned reputation of superb customer service and product evolution Combat Shooters is well on their way.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the prequel here it is.
Now let’s take a look at one of the specific core rifles Combat Shooters produces: the CS-15 SPR (Billet). SPR stands for Special Purpose Rifle.
Combat Shooters explains that the CS-15 SPR was designed with the Navy’s MK 12 Special Purpose Rifle in mind. They picked up where the Navy left off by adding a few more perks. The CS-15 delivers unparalleled accuracy and is ideal for 3 Gun shooters who utilize optical sights as it employs a low-profile gas block and GPX 14 inch rail. Combat Shooters also utilize the HIPERFIRE HIPERTOUCH 24E as their fire control group.
BMF BILLET SET
The simple lines and design of this upper and lower set make for an eye-pleasing combo. Well placed pockets machined in many areas reduce the weight and add to the aesthetics of the weapon. The lower receiver design was engineered to put the weight and strength exactly where it’s needed. The Tungsten color CS-15 SPR I reviewed was a great look combined with the black accessories. Nothing flashy but added just enough color to catch your eye.
Specs:
GPX-14 KEYMOD RAIL SYSTEM
I like this rail. The mix of Keymod and well placed Picatinny rail sections make for a well-made, user-friendly piece. This is certainly more likely a bipod type weapon but with the stock properly adjusted, the 14quot; rail allows for a well placed hand for whatever hold technique you like. The rail isn’t for everyone, with its wider then other areas folks looking for a streamlined rail may be a bit put off. It does allow for both Picatinny & Keymod options without adapters. Maybe you have both in your drawer of parts and this will save you a bit of hard-earned money.
Specs:
FAXON FIREARMS
While this was not an accuracy review for this weapon I found that the Faxon barrel lived up to its reputation and held to its superior accuracy claims. Only Magpul MBUS sights were used but the grouping stayed tight.
Specs:
VG6 GAMMA
I have shot with the Gamma on several different rifles and enjoy the brake/compensator hybrid. It virtually eliminates recoil and minimizes the muzzle movement. I found the weapon easy to keep on target allowing for fast follow up shots.
Specs:
HIPERFIRE HYPERTOUCH 24E
This is the first time I shot with a HIPERFIRE trigger and I like the feel. The 24E was very smooth and responsive with a fast precise reset and very low pre-travel. The trigger felt solid.
Specs:
The CS-15 SPR is a very nice rifle at a respectable price. I enjoyed the feel of it in my hands as it is well balanced and solidly built. No shaking parts or loose, spaced out items. Tight fitting and good to go.
I like to call this next part "If I had my way." I would like to see at least an option for an upgraded stock and backup sights. The MFT Minimalist stock is great, lightweight and well built. I own a few. However something with a better cheek rest and adjustability for both height and length would round it out nicely. The Magpul MBUS front and rear sights are nice and get the job done. I have a pair of these on one of my guns and have never had a problem. That being said something metal always makes me feel a bit better when I have to go to the backups. This is a scope gun no question but good backup sights could just save the day. I would reiterate that the products the CS-15 come with are just fine; these would be upgrade options that would of course cost the consumer more money.
If you’re in the market for an SPR and interested in backing a veteran-owned company with outstanding customer service give the Combat Shooters CS-15 SPR a try.
The CS-15 SPR is available in Anodized, Tungsten & Burnt Bronze.

Hearing a “click” when you expect a “BANG” is probably the worst sound a war fighter can hear in the middle of a firefight with enemy combatants closing in. Having a gun go down with a catastrophic failure is one way to get the blood flowing and push the pucker factor meter off the charts. James Pechi and David Pavlick know all too well what happens when Murphy rears his ugly head. They have experienced it first hand, multiple times throughout their Special Forces carriers. Throughout Pechi and Pavlick’s combined 25 years of combat experience with the 7th Special Forces Group they have experienced just about every type of failure or malfunction the M4 carbine has to offer. James and David have endured the carnage of war together. It was through this bond, this brotherhood that Arsenal Democracy was forged.
