Every shooter has different ideas on how they approach firearms setup. One of the most important personal preferences is sight picture.
As avid shooters themselves, the product development team at Magpul like to have options, so they opened the door wide open on sight picture selection by adding a hooded front sight variant of the popular MBUS Pro sights.
The new MBUS Pro hooded front sight is made from steel with a QPQ finish, making as durable as it is utilitarian. Between the toolless elevation adjustment knob, an enhanced post allowing for different widths (0.04ʺ for match shooting, and 0.06ʺ standard widths for those familiar with typical front-post sizes), and detents to keep the sight in place whether stowed or deployed (which rides at the standard height so the sight works with all other rear sights), this sight packs a lot in a small footprint.
The coolest part might be that, when paired with Magpul’s rear MBUS Pro sight, and depending on its placement in relation to the rear aperture, the hood creates a diopter-style sight picture to encourage faster target acquisition and more precise shots.
MBUS Pro® Hooded Front Sight features recap:
· All-steel construction
· Elevation adjustment knob – no tools required
· Corrosion-resistant QPQ finish
· Detents in both the stowed and deployed positions
· .432” height above rail at the tallest point when stowed, utilizes 1.71” of rail space when stowed
· Standard AR sight height when deployed
· Enhanced front sight post allows for .040” match or standard .060” width
