SI-Defense Ambi .308

You’ve seen the pictures, and maybe if you’re lucky, even handled one. A fully ambidextrous battle rifle chambered in .308 that weighs in at 8.5lbs? Yes, and it shoots like a dream as well. I am talking about the Si-Defense SI-D Ambi .308. Based out of Kalispell, MT, SI-Defense is poised to take the AR-10 market by storm with this new concept rifle that will hit the market soon.

The HK P30 – Refining an Almost Perfect Combat Firearm

I recently got my hands on TracerX’s Heckler & Koch P30s V3 and was very impressed with its ergonomics even though, due to my job, I’m on a Glock platform in my personal and professional life. I’m a lefty shooter, and the Hk is a pretty ambi-friendly gun. I’ve always believed Hk pistols to be well-respected combat firearms, until I felt the P30 trigger… it is abysmal. Heavy, gritty, ridiculously long take-up and reset, this is where the P30 series with the DA/SA trigger is seriously lacking. Due to the poor out-of-the-box trigger, I would not ever consider this pistol for daily carry, despite all of the other positive features of the pistol.

Hammerhead Rifle Tool II: Handy Tool for your Toolbox

The Hammerhead Rifle Tool II (HHRT V II) is a handy little no-nonsense armorer’s tool that has become a welcome addition to my toolbox. I see ARs as tools for use, not for lining a safe. Although I like to build an aesthetically pleasing carbine, I am more concerned with the functionality and reliability of any carbine that I build. It’s going to get used, get dirty, and show some “character” in the long run.

Mission First Tactical – TORCH – The Little Light That Can

Mission First Tactical (MFT) has gained popularity, especially with their Battlelink Minimalist stock – the odd-looking, L-shaped, stripped down carbine stock that has become all the rage with lightweight AR builders. MFT has since pushed out more products to the AR accessory market such as pistol grips, vertical foregrips with integral weaponlight housing, and a small little light dubbed the Torch Backup White Light (TBWL) or its counterparts the Torch Backup Light White/Red (TBLWR) Torch Backup Light Infrared (TBLIR). The model I had a chance to look at was the TBWL, which features two white LED lights with an output of approximately 20 lumens.
